Terlato Wines appoint two Regional Sales Directors

Lake Bluff, IL – February 17, 2009 – Terlato Wines International (TWI) continues to blaze trails in the U.S. fine wine industry, announcing two newly created national sales director positions to oversee the family-owned company’s field sales organization. One director will manage the eastern half of the country, the other the western U.S., providing additional focus in both sales execution and leadership across America.

“Creating these new positions, at this point in time, is a significant investment on the part of our family and represents our continuing drive to remain the innovative sales and marketing leader among U.S. wine companies,” said TWI President and CEO Bill Terlato. “We have a deeply rooted commitment to not only focus and build on our portfolio of brands, but also to assemble the best leadership team in the business to further grow our company and solidify our position for years to come.”

Effective January 19, 2009, Dennis Berberich joined TWI as Eastern Sales Director, based in South Florida. Berberich was previously employed by Diageo-Guinness, where he served as Vice President and General Manager for the Southeast Division, overseeing three regions encompassing nine Southeastern and Atlantic coast states. While at Diageo, Dennis generated $160 million in gross revenue and $56 million in total profit, while managing 10 million case equivalents.

Prior to Diageo, Berberich worked at E & J Gallo Winery, most recently as Division Manager for New York and Connecticut and State Manager for New Hampshire. Berberich earned a B.A. from Villanova University. He is a member of the Directors of the Catholic Institute of the Food Industry, which raises money to support hospitals and organizations that serve the underprivileged.

Terlato also announced the appointment of Jonathan Roth as TWI Western Sales Director effective February 9, 2009. Roth, who will be based in Southern California, was previously with Beverage Control, a Knoxville, Tenn., wine and spirits wholesaler. As General Manager, Roth grew Beverage Control’s company sales by 6.1% in the first 9 months of 2008, a more than $2 million increase in gross revenue. Prior to joining Beverage Control, Roth served as a Chain Director, Brand Manager and On-Premise Division Sales Manager for Southern Wine & Spirits in Tempe, Arizona.

Roth received a B.B.A. degree from the University of Miami. He has been deeply involved in many community service organizations, including City of Hope and Holiday Meals on Wheels. Roth has also volunteered as a Little League Coach and Manager and has worked with Big Brothers of America and Adopt-a-Grandparent.

“Both Dennis and Jonathan bring tremendous leadership experience and success in managing fine wine sales teams, and we’re excited to have them both on board to help us reach even greater sales success coast to coast,” said TWI Chief Operating Officer David Lane.

“Based on what we’ve learned from earlier recessions, companies which take bold steps to boost sales and marketing initiatives during economic downturns actually experience stronger, more sustained growth once the recession is over,” Lane said.

Terlato Wines International has a global portfolio of 50 brands from a host of world-class wine producers and presently markets more than one out of eight bottles of wine over $14 sold in America. Terlato, with more 90+ ratings than any wine company in the world, is the flagship company of the Terlato Wine Group, the parent company of several independent businesses specializing in the marketing and production of exceptional wines. Owned and operated by the Terlato family, the Group also includes the family’s winery investments and partnerships in some of the world’s most esteemed wine regions, including: Napa Valley; Sonoma County; Santa Barbara County; Victoria, Australia; the Rhône Valley in France; Somontano, Spain and Montalcino, Italy.
