GROWERS URGE FOSTER’S TO SELL VINEYARDS TO GOVERNMENT

The Murray Valley Winegrowers (MVW) has urged Foster’s Group to consider selling its two large Murray Valley vineyards to the Australian government as a part of its water buyback program. MVW hopes taking the vineyards out of production would help lessen the oversupply situation. Foster’s announced last month plans to sell 36 of its non-core vineyards as a part of its strategic wine review. The Winemakers Federation of Australia says the country faces a wine grape oversupply of about 20%.
