Wisconsin: State Local Tax Specialist

State and Local Tax Specialist is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns and related reports.

Areas of responsibility include the following.

Tax Compliance and Maintenance:

  • Gather all required apportionment data by state, by legal entity and enter into CORPTax (tax software)
  • Prepare separate corporate as well as unitary state income tax returns for all companies
  • Prepare state tax returns as required for LLC and partnership entities
  • Calculate, prepare and process all quarterly estimated state income tax payments by due dates
  • Prepare state income tax extension requests and, if necessary, process payment of any taxes due
  • Perform tax research as necessary to ensure accuracy of returns
  • Maintain Master State Income Tax calendar
  • Prepare amended state income tax returns to report Federal audit adjustments
  • Analyze and process all billing notices from state tax authoritiesTax Accounting and Budgeting:
  • Update and reconcile monthly state income tax accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of forecasted income tax expense and related balance sheet accounts
  • Analyze departmental budgets and update as necessary
  • Assist the State Tax Manager in special projects as neededState Income Tax Audits:
  • Competently handle all facets of the state income tax audit process
  • Research tax law, as necessary, regarding proposed adjustments
