Coors rebrands as Molson Coors in the UK

Coors Brewers Ltd, which has three UK breweries in Burton on Trent, Alton and Tadcaster, has announced it will change its name to Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) Limited, with effect from March 31st 2009. Announcing the move, Chief Executive, Mark Hunter said: “This is a positive move which clearly signals our company’s parentage and recognises the influence and contribution of both the Molson and Coors families in co-creating one of the world’s most significant brewing organisations, with operations spanning the globe from the United States, Canada and Mexico through Europe to China and Japan. “Operationally, we remain the same organisation in the UK and a major employer in our brewery towns. I hope our customers and suppliers will see this forward-looking move as a further sign of Molson Coors intent to stand up for beer in the UK and commitment to build strong brands that grow the beer category.

“Carling’s 100% British Barley campaign and much publicised efforts to drive 1 million people back into Britain’s pubs plus the launch of the Bittersweet Partnership, which aims to make beer more appealing to women are all evidence of our support of the beer category.” Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) Limited is the fifth largest brewer worldwide.

Its portfolio includes Carling, the UK’s best selling lager for three decades, Coors Light, Grolsch, Worthington’s, Caffrey’s and Sol as well as a range of speciality beers and lagers.
