UK: Senior Treasury Accountant


We’re looking for a Senior Treasury Accountant is to support our Treasury Controller in delivering high quality treasury accounting, control and compliance functions. This includes developing appropriate and reliable treasury accounting processes, delivering enhanced and automated treasury reporting, providing technical accounting advice (particularly with regards to IAS 32 & 39); and providing timely and reliable analysis of the Group’s finance charge, debt position (including the impact of derivatives and hedge accounting) and cash flows.

Outputs and Accountabilities

1) Support the Treasury Controller with regards to:

– The development, improvement and maintenance of appropriate and reliable treasury accounting processes;

– The management of forecasting, accounting and performance reporting of the Corporate finance charge, cash, debt and derivatives;

– The analytical review and reporting of the Group finance charge, cash, debt and derivatives for inclusion in the quarterly Board Book;

– The provision of technical advice and guidance to Tax, Treasury and Finance Teams on all aspects of treasury accounting (including acquisitions and group funding arrangements)

2) Work alongside the Treasury Accountant to ensure the new Treasury Management System (IT2) meets business needs, specifically with regards to:

– The treasury accounting process; to ensure the generation of IFRS compliant accounting journals for all treasury deal cash flows, the calculation of accounting entries for interest accruals and balance sheet revaluations;

– The hedge accounting process, including to ensure underlying exposures can be reliably measured; prospective and retrospective hedge effectiveness testing can be performed and appropriate accounting journals are automatically generated

– The delivery of automated and enhanced treasury reports

3) Develop and maintain a treasury accounting Controls Procedures Manual.

4) Establish effective and productive relationships with Group Treasury, Group Tax, the Group Information Team, the External Reporting & Accounting Policy Team, Group legal and operating units.

Knowledge and Experience Required

– Qualified accountant with post qualification experience within SABMiller plc or similar large multinational

– Treasury qualification such as AMCT or MCT desirable

– Experience of IFRS financial reporting, particularly IAS32 & 39 and IFRS7

– Proven understanding of complex treasury accounting transactions, reporting processes and information systems

– Sound understanding of Sarbanes Oxley (s404) compliance requirements and tax, treasury and corporate governance .
