Washington: Tasting Room Manager


The Tasting Room Manager is primarily responsible for the daily operations, administration, and profitability of the tasting room. This includes all aspects of hiring, training, and managing tasting room staff, as well as providing them with ongoing education that will enhance their effectiveness as salespeople. The tasting room manager is also responsible for managing all wine and merchandise inventory, and implementing sales and merchandising programs to increase sales. The Tasting Room Manager will coordinate and/or execute all private parties and other special events. Some evenings and weekends are required.
Position responsible for, but not limited to:
– Hire and train tasting room staff and provide ongoing wine and wine service education
– Create weekly schedule for staff ensuring adequate support for special events
– Oversee opening and closing procedures
– Ensure appropriate wines are in stock and ready for service
– Ensure adequate stemware is available
– Ensure merchandise displays are well stocked and orderly
– Register is closed down accurately and appropriate deposits are made
– Manage tasting room staff to ensure consistent, exceptional customer service
– Manage wine and merchandise inventory, creating inventory reports on a monthly basis, ordering as necessary and making recommendations for future purchases
– Implement sales programs to increase tasting room sales
– Manage wine club daily operations, prepare and process wine shipments, respond appropriately to customer account and shipping issues
– Manage wine club marketing, promotions and expansion
– All daily, weekly, and monthly in house reporting
– All State and Federal reporting and compliance
– Assisting the Winery Manager with day-to-day operations.
