John Smith’s Brewery was built in 1883, it produces 4Mhl of beer and some of our Major brands include John Smith’s, Fosters, Kronenbourg and Newcastle Brown. We are becoming a more strategic part of the business within the UK due to our growth and success of our brands and future plans within Heineken.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Brewing Shift Manager to join the Brewery at John Smith’s based at Tadcaster,North Yorkshire. This is a key role in leading a team of experienced team members and craft to deliver the operational requirements of the department and progressing improvement activities with their team to improve plant efficiencies and develop the people within the team.
To be considered for the role, candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability in the following areas:

– Problem solving.
– Proven People Management experience.
– Support and drive a proactive approach to the Health and Safety agenda across the department
– Act as a key change facilitator/agent with their team
– Deliver the budget on both fixed and variable costs
– Support the engineering strategy and maintain our assets
– Experience of TPM; QM; WCM; WCOM; Lean Manufacturing.
We are looking for someone who has a brewing diploma/degree or chemistry degree, with strong experience in a food & drink, pharmaceuticals or petro-chemical manufacturing process environment
To be successful you should be able to work well as part of a team, have a strong eye for detail, computer literate and numerate. You will be an effective communicator whose attitude combines self-motivation and commitment to personal and team development whilst positively embracing the concepts of involvement, partnership, flexibility and teamwork.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to drive the changes necessary in meeting the Brewery’s challenges by identifying improvements as well as motivating and inspiring the team.
