Diageo appoint Gilbert Ghostine to head of Asia Pacific Region

Diageo, the global alcoholic beverage group that counts Smirnoff, Baileys, Guinness, J&B and Bushmills Irish Whiskey among its brands, has unveiled a new president for its Asia-Pacific Region.

Gilbert Ghostine will take up the position with effect from July 1st, giving up his role as managing director of Diageo’s business in continental Europe.

The new appointee will report to the firm’s chairman of Diageo Asia-Pacific Ivan Menezes and will see Mr Ghostine assume the duties that had previously been overseen by John Pollaers.

Just last week, Diageo announced it would increase its investment in the Stirrings cocktail mixer group to 100 per cent, having previously held a 20 per cent stake since 2007.

Larry Schwartz, president of the firm in the US, commented: “As people entertain more at home, they are looking for an easy way to serve bar-quality cocktails and Stirrings fits squarely within our at-home strategy.”
