Carlsberg And Oettinger In Brewery Deal

Carlsberg’s operation in Germany has offloaded its Braunschweig Brewery as the firm switches its focus towards its flagship international brand.

German brewery group Oettinger has bought the facility for an undisclosed sum, bringing the number of plants owned by the firm in the country to six. The deal is now subject to the relevant approvals.

The sale includes all related assets and a number of discount and private label brands produced at the plant. The approximately 150 staff employed at Braunschweig will be taken on by Oettinger.

“The sale is part of the continuous optimisation of Carlsberg’s European network structure,” said Carlsberg in a statement. “The sale is part of Carlsberg Deutschland’s strategy to increase focus on the more profitable core brand business.”
