Germany: Brau Holding sells stake in Karlsberg

Brau-Holding-International the German joint venture between Heineken and the Schörghuber Group have sold their 45 percent stake in Karlsberg International Brand the Brewer that produces and sells the beer-mix drinks Mixery and Desperados in Germany.
The parties involved in the sale refused to disclose the financial details. However, Karlsberg will remain BHI’s distribution partner for Heineken and Pschörr-Bräu brands.
Karlsberg International Brands has been a financial burden for the joint venture Company and in 2007 BHI had to write down 79 million euros from its stake in Karlsberg.
BHI now wants to concentrate on its stakes in other breweries such as Paulaner, Kulmbacher and others
