Heineken to build a new Malting Plant in South Africa


Heineken , the world’s third-largest brewer, is in talks to build a barley-malting plant at its new brewery in South Africa and a deal is expected soon, a company official was quoted as saying this week.

Peralt van der Merwe, Heineken’s director for business and legal affairs, said the company was negotiating with “a major corporation” to build the facility. He declined to name the party.

The new brewery, which Heneken are building is in Sedibing in the South East of Johannesburg will  have a capacity of 3 million hectolitres, and has been designed to be scalable up to  6 million hectolitres. The building is scheduled to be completed later this year.
