UK: Transport Manager


Taking full responsibility for operations, legislative compliance and financial management within the department, there will be plenty of scope to innovate, introduce your own ideas and drive us forward.
So as well as setting objectives for the department, leading a team of duty managers and networking with the sales force, you’ll be expected to drive best practices and find better ways of working to achieve financial, customer service and other targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. O Licence holder. Full accountability for compliance with transport and H&S legislation including anticipation and implementation of procedures to meet all new statutory and legal requirements.
2. Ownership of departmental budget, working with all appropriate departments to ensure financial and service targets are achieved. Use of management information to continuously review performance and identify opportunities for improvement
3. Full responsibility for driving excellence in H&S standards and compliance within the transport operation, developing best practice and continuous improvement both on and off site.
4. To develop a strong team ethos, ensuring company and site values (Honesty, Ambition, Innovation, and Responsibility) are promoted and maintained at all times.
5. To manage service and cost of all contractors and service providers to comply with customer, company and legislative requirements. (3rd party hauliers, VMU etc)
6. To promote behavioural and work standards, using company procedures to ensure high levels of attendance, productivity and quality of work and protection of company assets.
7. Responsible for development of self, individuals and team to achieve personal, site and business goals.
8. Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies and succession plans in conjunction with the site management team.
9. Responsible for ensuring relevant business and operational information is cascaded appropriately and that a correct understanding of information has been achieved.
10. General responsibility as part of the site senior management team for all site activity when required, including out of hours requirements, opening and closing of the site and key holder responsibilities.
