Asia Pacific Breweries – Global Beer Brands Launch

Kolkata,  Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd (APB) is planning to launch two to three of its international brands of strong beer in India by December, according to Mr Chetan Gupta, Marketing Manager of its Indian subsidiary Asia Pacific Breweries (Pearl) Pvt Ltd.

Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of a conference here on Saturday, he said, “We plan to launch the international brands first in Maharashtra.” He, however, declined to name the brands. Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh together accounted for nearly 40 per cent of the country’s total beer consumption of 12 million hectoliters (or 150 million cases), he said.

The strong beer brands from APB’s stable in the value segment would be brewed at its existing breweries in Aurangabad and Hyderabad, he said. The parent company, however, did not have any plans of brewing its flagship lager beer brand Heinekens in India in the near future, he added. Strong beer accounts for nearly 70 per cent of India’s beer market.
