Rubert Thomason Joins Thatchers As Non-Executive Director

Rupert Thompson has joined Thatchers Cider as a non-executive director. Rupert, who brings with him extensive commercial experience across the brewing industry, adds further depth to the Thatchers board at a period of sustained growth.

Managing director Martin Thatcher comments, “There are not many people who can offer such impressive industry knowledge as Rupert. We are delighted that he has agreed to join us at Thatchers. ”

With almost thirty years working within the brewing industry, Rupert’s credentials include brand director for Carling Lager, and developing the leading premium bottled ale Old Speckled Hen for regional brewer Morland plc.

In 2000 he set up Refresh UK which took over the Ushers beer brands, and subsequently the Wychwood Brewery and the Brakspear brands. It went on to become a leading supplier of speciality premium ales in the UK. After he sold Refresh UK to Marstons, Rupert established his own independent consultancy.

He says, “I first started working with Thatchers when we jointly developed the Green Goblin cider for Wychwood Brewery. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the ciders.

“I have subsequently got to know the team and can see that the commitment to quality and innovation is at the heart of the business, and is the driver for their success. The business is growing fast and I am delighted to be joining the Thatchers Board as a non-executive director at such an exciting time.”

Martin Thatcher adds, “We are extremely fortunate to benefit from the knowledge and experience that Rupert brings. With consumers continuing to look for innovative and exciting products, like the new Thatchers Katy Rosé, and with some further interesting ideas in the pipeline, we are looking forward to developing our portfolio of premium ciders for both the on and off trades.”
