Cognac Grape Harvest underway – yield up

The Cognac grape harvest is under way

The harvest began on Monday 28 September in the 75,000 hectares of ugni blanc of the cognac production region. The average yield is expected to be 110 hectoliters per hectare (compared to 90hl/hectare in 2008). Last year the double use vines in Charente and Charente-Maritime produced 6,768,120 hectoliters of white wine. Over 99% was distilled to make cognac.
