Quebec Diageo Bottling Plant To Be Closed

manreading

Diageo has announced it will close its bottling plant in Dorval, Quebec, in late February 2010 and move production to a third party.

A total of 65 employees will be affected by the closure but the company said this decision was made as part of a thorough and careful review of its supply chain.

Mario Leduc, vice president Canada, bottling, said: “This is a tough business decision, but one that will help Diageo remain highly competitive … and help ensure the long-term sustainability of the business and jobs for the future.”

Production will be moved to Delta Beverages in Woodbridge, Ontario and Mr Leduc said this would increase efficiency and significantly lower costs while continuing to maintain “high-quality standards”.

Diego employs over 22,000 people worldwide with offices in around 80 countries.

The company has manufacturing facilities across the globe and has a collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, wine and beer categories including many famous brands such as Guinness, Smirnoff and Baileys.
