Vermonster Trademark Victory Over Hansen

The Rock Art Brewery (US) can continue brewing and selling its Vermonster beer after settling the trademark dispute with Hansen (US), the makers of Monster energy drinks.

Last week it was reported that Hansen had ordered the brewery to change the name of its Vermonster beer, as Hansen believed the similarity in the names of the products could confuse customers.

Hansen sent a cease-and-desist letter ordering the brewery to stop selling, advertising and promoting the craft brew and to pay for its legal fees.

The brewery put a message on its website, which said: “Victory! America you have saved the Vermonster! Your voice has caused corporate America to rethink its position, we can continue to brew our beer as we have since 2006.”

Owners of Rock Art Brewery started brewing beer in the basement of their house just outside of Johnson, Vermont in 1997.

They currently brew 19 different beers and the Vermonster is brewed with 110 pounds of malt per barrel.
