Cincinnati’s Beam Bottling Plant Will Shut Down

You ever notice that funky… sweet….popcorn smell along 1-75 near the Paddock Road exit?  It’s Beam Global’s bottling plant (yes, Jim Beam).  Well, that sweet smell will be gone in two years time.

Beam Global Spirits & Wine announced plans to close the Cincinnati plant in two years — and that means 184 employees will loose their job.  The company said Tuesday that processing at the DeKuyper Cordials plant will be moved to two plants in Frankfort and Clermont Kentucky.

The official statement is that the decision was based on a company review of global demand and existing plant capacity.

Now, the company will bargain with the United Food and Commercial workers, which represents employees at the plant.

Beam Global is best known for their Jim Beam Bourbon. They also bottle Sauza Tequila and Courvoisier Cognac.
