David And Goliath Beer Battle Goes On

More than a century running, the battle over markets and trade marks between Budejovicky Budvar (Budvar), a minnow in beer brewing volume terms, continues to roar as fiercely as the biblical David vs Goliath. Anheuser-Busch InBev, or AB InBev, being the proverbial Goliath to Budvar.
Budvar, known for its original Budweiser beer (after the German name of Ceske Budejovice, a town in southern Czech Republic), has just announced record shipments of its lager to Canada.

The Czech brewer uses any good news to shore up its legal war against AB InBev, especially following the September ruling of Europe’s highest court which may turn negative for Budvar in future.

See the attached story. Also keep in mind that Budvar’s 7,000 hectoliters sales in Canada accounts for less than 0.1% of 10 million hectoliters AB InBev sells annually north of the US border.
