Gatorade To Launch Athlete-Only Drink

Gatorade is planning to launch a range of sports beverages next year directed at ‘serious’ athletes.

The sports drinks promise to benefit athletes during all phases of exercise, providing rehydration and boosting performance before, during and after intense physical activity.

Gatorade is owned by PepsiCo and produces a number of beverages such as the Gatorade Thirst Quencher, which the company said has been specifically formulated to provide athletes with an ‘optimal choice’ for hydration.

The new beverages in the range are to be named Prime, Perform and Recover.

A spokesperson for Gatorade said the new drinks will represent a “significant innovation that will evolve Gatorade,” and that they will be designed to “meet more needs of athletes”.

Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), founded in 1985 in Illinois (US), is a research facility that addresses the performance and safety needs of athletes.

GSSI develops and scientifically tests the performance of Gatorade products in competitive environments.
