Danone Waters of America (DWA) announces the appointment of Nick Krzyzaniak as President and General Manager. Elio Pacheco, who currently holds this position, has been promoted within Danone to General Manager of the evian Volvic Export Business Unit. Both roles will be effective January 1, 2010. Currently the Managing Director of Danone Waters UK and Ireland Ltd., Krzyzaniak is returning to his home country of the U.S. where he formerly held the positions of Senior Vice President, Sales as well as Executive Vice President, Commercial Development for The Dannon Company, Inc. also a Danone subsidiary. Three brewers are interested in acquiring Mexico's FEMSA Cerveza in a $7.5-billion plus auction, with SABMiller (SAB.L) seen front runner in a deal likely to be sealed in January, sources close to the situation said yesterday. Europe-based brewers SABMiller and Heineken are both keen to buy one of the last big emerging market brewers, while Japan's largest brewer, Kirin Holdings Co , has asked for details on the brewer, which was effectively put up for sale last month. The European Commission has granted approval for a major beverage industry transaction in which CVC Capital Partners acquired the Central European branches of Belgium-based AB InBev, the world's leading beer manufacturer. Coca-Cola has plans to create more bottling plants in China over the next ten years in an attempt to increase sales across the country's middle-class threefold. Doug Jackson, president of Coca-Cola's China business unit, said the company also had plans to distribute more Coke-branded refrigerators to Chinese bars, restaurants and supermarkets by 2020, the Financial Times reported. Jinro, a liquor maker based in South Korea, has said that its is going to sell a new soju brand in China starting next month. The company said that soju is a diluted Vodka-like liquor with 35% alcohol content. The company said that it has come out with a new type of soju with an alcohol content of 20%, over the past two and half years that is produced by blending spirits with water and bamboo flavorings. Serenata Wines, an online retailer based in the UK, has signed an exclusive deal to introduce a collection of the US wines to the UK. Serenata Wines happens to be the first British company to sell the wines of Evening Land Vineyards, which was set up in the US by former Hollywood movie director Mark Tarlov. CKE Restaurants has started to offer vitaminwater at all of its 1,212 Carl's Jr locations. These locations will serve three flavors of vitaminwater including xxx, revive and essential. Vitaminwater is owned by The Coca-Cola Company (Coca-Cola). According to the company, it is a nutrient-enhanced water that provides a range of functional benefits. Coca-Cola products have been served in Carl's Jr locations since 1981. vitaminwater will be available at most Carl's Jr restaurants in 16 oz bottles priced at $1.69. Molson Coors UK and C&C Group have agreed in principle to extend the distribution contract for draught Magners in England and Wales. It is planned that C&C Group will have the distribution rights for Scotland and Multiple On Trade (MOT) from 1st January 2010. In 2008, Molson Coors agreed with the C&C Group to act as exclusive distributor for Draught Magners in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) on trade. Following the acquisition by the C&C Group of the Irish, Northern Irish and Scottish assets of AB InBev, both parties have agreed to continue the existing arrangement and allow Molson Coors to help build the brand. Tony Gibbons, director of sales at Molson Coors (UK) said: "Molson Coors (UK) track record in creating effective brand-building partnerships and strong routes to market were key to C&C Group's choice of exclusive partner in developing draught Magners in the UK.
