Suntory Completes Purchase Of Orangina Schweppes Group

Suntory Holdings has completed its acquisition of the Orangina Schweppes Group from the Blackstone Group and Lion Capital LLP.

The two investment firms received a binding offer from Suntory to purchase Orangina and all the social, regulatory and legal requirements necessary for a sale have now been completed.

Lion Capital and Blackstone were majority investment partners in Orangina Schweppes since they bought the group from Cadbury in 2006.

Suntory said that the acquisition will provide the company with a “solid platform in Europe in the soft drinks business”, and they added it was a further step in its global expansion strategy.

Orangina Schweppes Group claimed that every five seconds somebody around the world drinks one of its beverages, which includes Schweppes Indian Tonic, Canada Dry and Orangina – a sparkling fruit drink containing orange pulp, 12 per cent citrus fruit juice and no artificial colouring.

The group sells its brands in more than 80 countries worldwide with a portfolio of 22 trademarks.
