Boston Beer Launches Limited Release of Extreme Beer

The Boston Beer Company, brewer of Samuel Adams, has released an updated version of one of its “extreme beers” – a limited release of brandy-coloured Utopias, a 27 per cent alcohol brew that is not for the faint of heart.

Formerly considered the highest alcohol content beer on the market – although it was recently pipped by Brewdog’s launch of Tactical Nuclear Penguin – Utopia is designed to challenge old notions of beers and the rules governing them, the Associated Press reports.

“Just part of trying to push the envelope,” Jim Koch, founder and owner of the Boston Beer Co told the news provider.

“I’m pushing it beyond what the laws of these 13 states ever contemplated when they passed those laws decades ago.”

Last Thursday (November 26th), Scottish firm BrewDog’s Tactical Nuclear Penguin broke the world record for the strongest beer, weighing in at an ABV of 32 per cent.
