Claes Fick Promoted To CEO of Purity Vodka

Purity Vodka, the world’s most awarded ultra-premium vodka produced at Ellinge Castle in southern Sweden, announced today that Claes G. Fick was promoted to the position of chief executive officer of Purity Vodka AB. Fick joined the company in early 2009 as its chief operating officer and the leader of Purity Vodka’s global sales and marketing.

“Claes has in-depth experience with international consumer products throughout Europe, Canada, Latin America and the U.S., and as we continue to grow, the brand will benefit from his extensive industry knowledge,” said Goran Bernhoff, chairman, Purity Vodka AB. “With his background in sales and marketing, he is the right leader at the right time to lead the global commercialization of the brand.”

For the past two decades, Fick has been deeply involved in all aspects of the various development stages for brands like Absolut Vodka, Del Monte, Plymouth Gin and Camitz Sparkling Vodka.

“I’m eager to help expand the business and brand in my new role and hope to inspire success among all my colleagues,” said Fick. “The company is embarking on an exciting time with the recent U.S. launch and it is an extreme honor to have been appointed CEO of Purity Vodka.”

Fick will replace Thomas Kuuttanen as chief executive with Kuuttanen assuming the role of Master Distiller and responsible for production and brand development. Under Kuuttanen’s leadership the brand has developed from a vision to a full-fledged ultra premium offering. While at Purity Vodka he has been responsible for the development of the product formula, packaging design, brand platform and communications manual. He has also secured intellectual property in key markets and recruited a team of experienced employees and advisors to guide the continued growth of the project.

Recognized as the most awarded ultra-premium vodka, Purity Vodka has won gold medals at the most prestigious international spirit competitions including The International Wine & Spirit Competition in England; the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in the U.S.; The Destillata Awards in Austria; The Sommelier’s Trophy in Sweden and the 2009 Vodka Masters in Cannes, France.

Using a recipe developed by Thomas Kuuttanen that remains under lock-and-key, the heart of Purity Vodka is distilled at the 13th century Ellinge Castle in southern Sweden and uses only natural ingredients, including water from the Castle’s own artesian well. This is the foundation of the flavors generated that gives Purity Vodka its unique character and smoothness.

Purity Vodka is packaged in a unique clear, crystal-like bottle with a black hangtag that reads, “The Perfect Cut”, referring to the perfect cut of the diamond shaped bottle as well as the cut in the production where the distiller cuts off the “head” and “tail” of the spirit only to keep the finest part of the “body” of the vodka.
