Closure Threatened Leeds Pub Bounces Back

A Leeds pub in danger of shutting its doors for good two years ago, has clawed its way back up after achieving a top accolade. The High Farm Inn on Farrar Lane at Holt Park Village, has gone from strength to strength after new licensees took over in December 2007.

It has now achieved a Cask Mark Accreditation for its real ales which is earned through an assessor visiting unannounced to check all cask ales on sale for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste.

And to mark the achievement, the pub had a presentation with representatives from Marstons Brewery as well as Leeds Lib Dem MP Greg Mullholland.

Licensee Tina Groves said: “This is a great milestone for us and shows how far we have come from a pub that was in danger of closing only two years ago as trade was so low.

“We recently reintroduced a food offering which has also been well received and the achievement of cask mark ties in very well with this new venture and continued expansion of the pub.”
