Coca-Cola Ties-up With James Cameron’s Forthcoming 3D Film Avatar

Coca-Cola partnered with Twentieth Century Fox on a global promotional campaign for James Cameron’s film AVATAR, through its Coke Zero brand.

The campaign will roll out across 30 countries including the UK and involves cinema and digital activity.

The 30-second commerical, set to be shown at cinemas nationwide, features footage promoting the brand’s partnership with AVATAR. The spot shows a man taking a drink of Coke Zero from an AVATAR-branded pack in from of his computer. He is then transported to the world of Pandora which comes alive in footage from the movie. The scene closes with the strap line “Great Coke Taste. Zero Sugar.” The tie-up will be supported via Cineworld and Vue Cinemas through branded cups and popcorn boxes.

The digital element aims to bring the film’s experience to Coca-Cola’s loyalty website, Coke Zone. The site is giving consumers the chance to win ‘money-can’t-buy brand experiences’ including tickets to the premiere to redeeming points in exchange for Avatar memorabilia.

A website has also been developed by Coca-Cola Zero, the studio and the filmmakers.  The site will feature news reports from the world of Pandora, providing fans with AVATAR imagery, wallpapers, games and applications as well as regularly updated, real-time AVATAR news.

AVATAR will be released worldwide on 17 December 2009.
