Foster’s Group has announced that Alex Stevens, managing director of the company’s Carlton and United Breweries (CUB) unit has resigned because of ill health.

Foster’s chief executive officer Ian Johnston said the company was very sorry that Mr Stevens was having to leave and that they wish him the best for the future.

“In Alex’s short time at Foster’s, a lot has been achieved”, he added.

Mr Johnston explained that the company’s beer, cider and spirits sales team had been separated from wine and the newly renamed CUB business unit had been re-launched.

He said that also during Mr Stevens’ time at the company, new product initiatives had been accelerated and its supply chain has being enhanced.

“I thank Alex for his efforts, and confirm there is a strong CUB leadership team in place,” said Mr Johnston, who is to act as the managing director at CUB until further notice.
