Guinness Launches Campaign using Google Earth

Guinness is allowing people to create their own virtual planet using Google Earth in the next step of its Guinness World campaign.

Visitors to Guinness.com can create bespoke features of their own planet using a Google Earth mash-up and are encouraged to use Facebook Connect to share and co-create with friends. The more people contribute, the more terrains and scenarios are unlocked.

Users who discover a certain number of water droplets hidden on the sites are eligible to win a case of Guinness.

Paul Cornell, marketing manager at Guinness, said, “No longer can we rely on just a distinctive TV ad to generate the required level of impact, we also have to really involve and reward the consumer. The link with Google allows us to do this. Fans can actually bring their own world to life and we hope it will have the creative impact fans expect from our brand.”
