Labatt’s McCarthy Moving To AB InBev Head Office

After a 13-year stint at Labatt Breweries of Canada, Rob McCarthy is leaving for its parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev in St. Louis, to serve as senior director on the Budweiser brand, effective immediately.

McCarthy, and his six-member team will lead the Budweiser business in the U.S.

“[The position] is a rare opportunity to lead a global iconic brand in its home market,” he said. “Budweiser means something everywhere in the world so to lead that business in the U.S. where it’s a sizeable and significant business is an incredible opportunity.”

He will also work with the global marketing team to build the Budweiser brand in China, Eastern Europe and South America.

McCarthy started with Labatt in the PR department in 1996. His most recent role was director, innovation and marketing services where he oversaw the company’s efforts in media, sponsorship and insights, reporting to Labatt’s vice-president of marketing, Richard Musson.

He has also served as marketing director on such brands as Budweiser, Bud Light, Labatt Blue, Kokanee and the brewer’s portfolio of value brands.

Labatt is in the process of searching for McCarthy’s replacement.
