Lion Nathan To Market And Distribute Captain Morgan Rum In New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand: Lion Nathan today announced that it had extended its agreement with international liquor giant Diageo to distribute and market Captain Morgan Rum in New Zealand.

Lion Nathan has been distributing the majority of the Diageo portfolio in New Zealand for the past twenty years and the addition of Captain Morgan Rum consolidates the Diageo brands into one distribution arrangement for the New Zealand market.

Rory Glass, Lion Nathan National Sales and Marketing Director said he was delighted that Diageo have recognised Lion’s commitment to marketing and distributing New Zealand’s most adored alcoholic beverage brands.

“At Lion we’re passionate about delivering the very best brands to our customers and to consumers. So we’re thrilled that Captain Morgan will now be part of our portfolio going forward.”

Philip Doyle, Country Manager for Diageo NZ said the extension of the partnership reflected Lion Nathan’s proven commitment to nurturing great brands; and the depth of Lion’s reach and scale in the New Zealand market.

“Our brands have enjoyed fantastic care and attention under Lion’s guardianship which has resulted in phenomenal growth in core trademarks like Smirnoff, Guinness, Johnnie Walker and Baileys. We are very pleased to extend our contract with Lion to include Captain Morgan.” said Mr Doyle.

Lion Nathan will take full responsibility for Captain Morgan from 1 February 2010. This will include sales, marketing and distribution which has until now been managed by Fosters NZ.
