A-B InBev ships water to help in Haiti

Anheuser-Busch Inbev said today it is preparing a shipment of 600,000 cans of water from its Cartersville, Ga., AB brewery to help with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The company is working with the American Red Cross to get the water to Haiti.

The company has managed to get some water to Haiti already. The day after last week’s earthquake, A-B InBev subsidary Ambev shipped almost 350,000 cans of drinking water from its brewery in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. (For the geographically-challenged, the D.R. shares the same island as Haiti.)

Also, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation and Labatt will match donations to the Red Cross made by North American workers and its network of U.S. wholesalers, up to $300,000.

Interesting factoid: Over the past two years, A-B and its U.S. distributors have provided more than 5 million cans of drinking water to victims of natural disasters.
