Some 600 Danish employees of Carlsberg A/S (CPH: CARL B) have stopped working today after the brewer informed them that there will be no salary increases in 2010, local media reported.

According to Danish broadcaster TV2, the strike was started by employees at Carlsberg’s beer production and distribution units in Copenhagen and in Fredericia, in the eastern part of the Jutland (Jylland) peninsula

The strike could spread over a total 1,100 employees, newswire Ritzau
said.

Danish trade union 3F has not been informed about the strike in advance
and was surprised by the news.

According to daily Dagbladet Borsen, Carlsberg’s employees are strongly
dissatisfied with their labour conditions and fear massive job cuts.
