Dr Pepper To Advertise In Super Bowl

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Incorporated (US) is advertising for the first time at this year’s Super Bowl.

The group will advertise its Dr Pepper Cherry carbonated beverage in the breaks between the championship game, which is to air on February 7th.

Speaking to Dallas News, Jim Trebilcock, chief marketing officer at Dr Pepper, said: “This is the first time for the mother-ship. We want to take advantage of having [nearly] 100 million viewers to gain awareness and trial around Cherry Dr Pepper.”
Gene Simmons from the classic rock band Kiss is to feature in the advert.

The group claims Dr Pepper to be the oldest major soft drink in the United States. It originated at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store in the town of Waco in 1885.

Last month, Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced that it had agreed to license some of its brands to PepsiCo, Incorporated once PepsiCo had completed its proposed acquisitions of The Pepsi Bottling Group, Incorporated and PepsiAmericas, Incorporated.
