Bahrain: Soft Drinks Factory To Remain Closed

manreading

A Bahrain-based soft drinks factory is to remain closed while it undergoes an investigation due to the discovery of fungus in one of its bottles last month.

The fungus was discovered in a bottle of Crush, which is a brand of soft drinks giant Coca-Cola but is bottled in Bahrain by the Refreshment Trading Company, TradeArabia.com reported.

A spokesman for the Health Ministry told the Gulf Daily News that the factory, which was shut down on January 23rd, could remain closed for another week.

“We have found that the foreign bodies were actually fungus growth and are now trying to figure out where it came from,” the spokesman said.

“A thorough investigation is underway now,” he added.

Elsewhere in the world, Coca-Cola recently launched a promotion offering fans the opportunity to send their friends and family virtual gifts.

All gift-senders will receive a 20-second preview of the two new Coca-Cola adverts that are to debut during the Super Bowl broadcast next week (February 7th 2010).
