Programme Launched To Prevent Sale of Beer to El Salvador Minors

Industrias La Constancia, a subsidiary of SABMiller, has launched a programme aimed at preventing the sale of beer to minors in San Salvador, Santa Tecla and Soyapango.

The Identify Yourself with Your Country programme is part of the company’s corporate Sustainable Development Policy and its drive to promote responsible consumption.

As part of the programme, La Constancia will offer educational sessions and social work in schools, businesses and through local government.

The programme is to be piloted for a year in partnership with Glasswing International and, if successful in reducing beer consumption among minors, it will be extended.

At the launch of the programme, two presentations were given, one entitled Alcohol Consumption Patterns in El Salvador and the other giving advice on how to reduce abusive alcohol consumption.

Industrias La Constancia produces a number of beverages including beers, juices and bottled waters.

Its brands include Pilsner, Fanta, Tropical, Fresca, Coca-Cola and Sprite.
