SABMiller has created a programme to measure the responsibility of businesses.
The programme, called SAM Hyperion, measures and compares the results of breweries from over 60 countries.
One of the companies that is to be assessed is Poland-based Kompania Piwowarskia, which came top in the Ranking of Responsible Companies in 2009.
SAM Hyperion is a custom-made management system that includes an in-depth analysis of results within the sphere of sustainable development.
Malgorzata Waledzinska, corporate social responsibility manager at Kompania Piwowarska, said that doing business responsibly is the key to “ensuring sustainable development of the company and its business partners”.
“Running a business in a responsible way is a coherent concept of management realised by all employees of the company,” she added.
Last month, Czech hockey player Richard Brancik and Petr Kouble, a representative for Czech beer Radegast, made a wager that could see the sportsman working a shift at the Radegast brewery.
If Brancik’s hockey team does not make it to the final playoffs of the Czech first league, the captain will work a shift at the Radegast brewery, whereas if they do, Kouble will clean the hockey team’s locker room and will take care of the players’ needs during one of their games.
