Grolsch Extends Sponsorship of De Graafschap

Brewer Grolsch has signed a contract to extend its sponsorship of football organisation De Graafschap.

Under the agreement, Grolsch is to financially support the Doetinchem soccer club for an extended period of time and, in return, will be the exclusive beverage and beer supplier of De Graafschap and its stadium De Vijverberg.

Henk Bloemers, commercial director of De Graafschap, labelled Grolsch a “big and reliable partner”.

“For years, Grolsch has been a great sponsor for us. Agreements such as this one will further aid De Graafschap in its professionalisation,” he added.

The brewer also sponsors Dutch football clubs Go Ahead Eagles, Heracles Almelo and AGOVV.

Grolsch was founded in 1615 and was taken over by guild master Peter Cuijper in 1678.

The five per cent ABV beer is brewed with the company’s own yeast strain and two fine European summer barleys.

It is available in over 60 countries across the world where its moderately bitter and long after-taste is enjoyed.
