Hine Cognac Revives Luxury XO Blend

Hine Cognac, which is now distributed in the UK by Champagne house Pol Roger, is reviving its luxury Antique XO Premier Cru blend.

First made in 1920 by George Hine, grandfather of current boss Bernard Hine, the drink is a blend of more than 40 cognacs, exclusively from the Grande Champagne region and all at least 10 years old.

After blending, they are aged for a further year in barrels for them to “marry”.

The resulting Cognac comes in a decanter shaped bottle, complete with a pewter-effect label and embossed box. It will sell for around £120 a bottle.

“This exceptional blend of Cognacs is an invitation to delight the senses, with a provocative perfume of spices, vanilla and liquorice, intermingling with irresistible hints of chocolate and baked apple, finishing with an aromatic, rich and mouth-filling flavour,” said a spokesman.

It is said to go particularly well with chocolate puddings.
