California: General Manager

Senior Foster’s Manager and leader on the Central Coast. Provide leadership to all employees. Represents Foster’s to all of our Central Coast neighbors, customers, and suppliers.
• Responsible for winery and vineyard site safety, cellar operations, winemaking, farming operations, engineering, maintenance, wine quality, and winery/vineyard costs. Guardian of grape and wine quality for all Foster’s programs made on the Central Coast
• Recruits, develops and leads a competent, motivated management organization that positively contributes to return on assets, COGS and growth goals.
• Conduct performance appraisals of direct reports. Propose bonus and annual merit increases as appropriate.
• Ensures that disciplinary actions are administrated within the company’s policies and procedures.
• Meet with staff periodically to discuss/communicate information on benefits, organizational, policy or corporate direction changes. Conduct meetings with staff to gain input and insight.
• Monitor site performance and lead improvement strategies and action plans.
• Responsible for performance, quality and costs for all of the Central Coast operations.
• Develop and manage the operating budgets for all Central Coast Business Units.
• Direct winery, vineyard, and department managers in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure meeting the site’s objectives for producing and shipping the quality and quantity of products specified.
• Provides input regarding grape quality and farm plans to the Director of Vineyard Operations and Foster’s contract grape growers.
• Assists in insuring that farming programs/processes align with Block Grading recommendations that support current wine programs
• Manage the capital budget and five year plan for the wineries and vineyards.
• Coordinate harvest preparation, grape delivery, and capacity planning for the Meridian and Taz wineries.
