Importer and distributor Winebow has appointed a new president. Jon Moramarco will take up the post on March 30. Moramarco will report to Leonardo LoCascio, chairman and CEO of Winebow. Paris Hilton's controversial beer advert has been pulled from Brazilian TV networks. The sultry beer ad featuring the socialite was pulled after consumer complaints and a watchdog agency's investigation. The television and internet campaign features Paris in a short black dress preening and rubbing a can of Devassa beer on herself, all to the delight of onlookers watching through her window. Welsh brewer Brains chose St David's Day yesterday to announce a return to the stout sector. Brains Black was launched by former Wales scrum half Rob Jones and former Ireland flanker Simon Easterby. South African wine bosses to open London Restaurant

Two South African winery bosses have teamed up with the founder of restaurant Vivat Bacchus to open a wine restaurant in London's City. Gary and Kathy Jordan from Stellenbosch-based Jordan Wine Estate have teamed up with ex Vivat Bacchus owner Neleen Strauss to open High Timber, a 70 cover restaurant and 40,000 bottle wine cellar near St Paul's cathedral. Although wine from the Jordan Estate will feature on the list, including Cobblers Hill, Nine Yards and Mellifera NLH from the Reserve range, Gary said the restaurant is to offer a global variety, not just wine from South Africa. Top golfer Marc Warren has signed a new sponsorship deal with Highland Spring. The Scottish European Tour player, 28, is the latest "sporting ambassador" for the water brand. As part of the deal, the Highland Spring logo will feature on Warren's golf bag as he competes around the world and he will drink the water as part of his regular dietary regime. Anthony Berry, the former chairman of the famous wine and spirits merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd died on February 23, aged 94 Berry Bros & Rudd, the well known wine and spirits merchants based in St James’s London, has announced that its former chairman, Anthony Berry has died. Coca-Cola India to sponsor Hero Honda International Field Hockey World Cup

Coca-Cola India and Reebok are to sponsor the Hero Honda International Field Hockey World Cup 2010. Reebok has been named as the tournament's Official Apparel Partner and Coca-Cola India will be its Official Beverage Partner. Coca-Cola India will provide a range of beverages to all of the teams playing in the competition and will also provide drinks in the World Cup's VIP Lounge and Media Centre. Atul Singh, president and chief executive officer at Coca-Cola India, said: "Coca-Cola India has always believed in promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through sports and has had a long term association with various sports globally." Volunteers at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, in which the competition is being held between February 28th and March 13th, will all wear Reebok T-shirts. [...more]

A Czech hockey player and a brewery representative have made a wager that could see the sportsman working a shift at a brewery. Richard Brancik is captain of the Olomouc hockey team and he has made an agreement with Petr Kouble, a representative for Czech beer Radegast, that if the hockey team does not make it to the final playoffs of the Czech first league, the captain will work a shift at the Radegast brewery. If Petr Kouble loses, on the other hand, he has said he will clean the hockey team's locker room and will take care of the players' needs during one of their games. [...more]

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. has announced that Martin M. Ellen will join the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer on April 1, 2010. In addition to his strong background in finance, Ellen will bring considerable experience in franchising, operations and the beverage industry. At DPS, he will be responsible for the company's finance and IT organizations and will report to Larry Young, president and chief executive officer. He will succeed John O. Stewart, who last year announced his plans to retire on March 31, 2010. Hallgarten Druitt will take over responsibility for handling on- and off-trade sales within the UK with immediate effect. Packaging for the Reserva, Single Vineyard, and Lost Barrel ranges has undergone an extensive overhaul by Amphora Design. The Reserva range reflects Oveja Negra's innovation, featuring unusual new blends such as Sauvignon Blanc with Carmenère. The Single Vineyard range incorporates a Carmenère, Carignan, and a Syrah.
