Anheuser-Busch InBev on Thursday announced plans to sell its breweries in nine Eastern European countries to CVC Capital Partners, a leveraged buyout firm based in London. The deal is estimated at about $3.03 billion.If the deal goes through, CVC will purchase all of A-B InBev's operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Montenegro, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.Accordingly, this would makeCVC the licensed brewer and distributor of Stella Artois, Beck's, Loewenbraeu, Hoegaarden, Spaten and Leffe in those countries.However,A-B InBev plans to keep its right to brew and distribute its brand Staropramen in other countries, such as Germany, Russia, the U.S., the U.K. and Ukraine.
