PepsiCo has launched its Refresh Project in Canada, giving the country's residents the chance to improve their local communities.
Fans of the soft drinks giant's brands are being invited to put forwards their ideas of how they can enhance or develop where they live, with the most popular being given a grant to complete the proposed project.
Over the following year, more than $1 million (£644,505) will be given out in grants.

Coca-Cola has launched sporting uniforms made of recycled bottles, which are being used at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.
The uniforms made up of 120 used plastics bottles, is part of the company's initiative to create its first ever zero waste, carbon-neutral sponsorship at the Games.
The drinks giant is also collecting all the PET bottles used at the Games via more than 800 barrels across the venues.
The company is using hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-free coolers and a fleet of hybrid carts and delivery vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Mosaiq has acquired the global rights to the Lemon Hart rum brand from Pernod Ricard.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The marketing and sales transition of the brand to Mosaiq have been completed while the production transition will be completed by the end of June 2010.
According to Mosaiq, the acquisition of Lemon Hart lifts the company to number one in the imported dark rum segment in Canada with a 41% share of market. [...more]

The multi-faceted Olympic Games-themed programme is called Open the Games, Open Happiness.
A group of high-profile US Olympians and sports champions, known as the Coca-Cola Six Pack of athletes are helping to promote the campaign along with limited edition Olympic Games-themed packaging.

Fewer than one in five Canadian wine drinkers can recognise and correctly understand the term "Cellared in Canada", according to a new poll of wine drinkers in the country.
The study, conducted by market research agency Wine Intelligence, also found that the majority - 64% - of Canadian wine drinkers don't even recognise the term "Cellared in Canada" when they see it.
Of the 36% of Canadian consumers who are aware of the term, about half correctly state that a wine carrying the Cellared in Canada designation is made from a combination of Canadian and foreign grapes, or from all imported grapes (the definition in British Columbia), which have been blended and bottled in Canada. Drinks Americas has sold $50,000 of Trump super premium vodka to the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), which has authorised the product. Drinks Americas said this initial order will open the Toronto market for the brand also sold in Alberta and Manitoba provinces. Coca-Cola Bottling Company is expanding its fleet of hybrid-electric delivery trucks across Canada as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability.
The beverage giant is adding 15 hybrid single-axle tractors to its existing hybrid fleet of 20 side-bay trucks and 2 straight trucks in Canada. Of these 15, five have been deployed in Montreal.
The Coke hybrid trucks use about 30 percent less fuel and produce about 30 percent fewer emissions than standard tractors. These first-of-their-kind vehicles are servicing markets in Vancouver, London, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
Coca-Cola Enterprises has deployed a total of 327 hybrid delivery vehicles across North America, which were manufactured in Sainte-Therese, Que. [...more]
