Coca-Cola’s PlantBottles Arrive On Shelves

Beverages in the Coca-Cola Company's PlantBottle packaging are now arriving in stores worldwide. Coca-Cola aims to produce two billion of the special PET plastic bottles by the end of next year. The new bottles are 100 per cent recyclable and are helping to cut down the company's use of the non-renewable source petroleum as they are made partially from plants. Muhtar Kent, chairman and chief executive officer at the Coca-Cola Company, said: "Today, we are taking a major step along our sustainable packaging journey as the Coca-Cola Company becomes the first-to-market with a recyclable PET plastic bottle made partially from plants." The packaging has been rolled out in a number of countries, including Denmark, where Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light and Coca-Cola Zero in 500ml and two-litre sizes are now available in PlantBottles.
