Coca-Cola India To Launch New Fanta Ad Campaign

Coca-Cola India is to launch an integrated communication programme for Fanta, featuring brand ambassador and Bollywood sensation Genelia D'Souza. This campaign for the fruit-flavoured sparkling beverage is aimed at the youth market and was created by Ajay Gahlot, group creative director at Ogilvy & Mather and Mayur Hola, creative director at the same company. The TV adverts for the Dikhao Apne Asli Rang campaign, which translates as Show Your True Colours, were directed by Rajat Nagpal from Sharp Shooter Films. [...more]

Coca-Cola India Helps To Bring Clean Drinking Water To Indian Schools

Clean drinking water projects in 12 schools in West Bengal have been completed with the support of Coca-Cola India. A ceremony to mark the completion was held at Bamanagar Subala FP School in the Indian district of South 24 Parganas. Similar projects are to be completed in more than 50 schools in West Bengal with an investment of $200,000 (£131,883). UN Habitat is providing $100,000 for the project and Coca-Cola India and the communication and capacity development unit under the public health engineering department (CCDU-PHED) are contributing $50,000 each. Coca-Cola India to sponsor Hero Honda International Field Hockey World Cup

Coca-Cola India and Reebok are to sponsor the Hero Honda International Field Hockey World Cup 2010. Reebok has been named as the tournament's Official Apparel Partner and Coca-Cola India will be its Official Beverage Partner. Coca-Cola India will provide a range of beverages to all of the teams playing in the competition and will also provide drinks in the World Cup's VIP Lounge and Media Centre. Atul Singh, president and chief executive officer at Coca-Cola India, said: "Coca-Cola India has always believed in promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through sports and has had a long term association with various sports globally." Volunteers at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, in which the competition is being held between February 28th and March 13th, will all wear Reebok T-shirts. [...more]

With some of the gifts sent, one-dollar will be donated to Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Boys and Girls Clubs of America aims to enhance the development of children that lack adult care and supervision. Coca-Cola To Boost Incomes of African farmers

The Coca-Cola Company has launched a partnership which will enable over 50,000 small fruit farmers in Uganda and Kenya to increase their productivity. Along with non profit TechnoServe and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation the soft drinks company will help the African farmers to double their incomes by 2014. The four-year, $11.5 million (£7.13 million) partnership will enable mango and passion fruit farmers to be a part of Coca-Cola's supply chain for the first time. [...more]

The FRS Company, a developer and distributor of FRS Healthy Energy products, announced today that Carl Sweat, a former Coca-Cola, North America executive, has been named Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Sweat brings significant experience in beverage operations, brand creation, marketing, and retail sales to his new role. Prior to joining FRS, he served as Senior Vice President at Starbucks, overseeing the Global Beverage unit. Previously, Mr. Sweat spent 22 years at Coca-Cola, North America, most recently serving as the President and General Manager of FUZE Beverage LLC, where he grew the value of the enterprise and significantly increased profitability. During his tenure with the company, Mr. Sweat held various general management and brand marketing positions, helping to launch Coke Zero, one of the company's most successful product launches in the last 10 years, and overseeing brand management and marketing for brands such as Coca-Cola Classic and Sprite. Coca-Cola India Launches New Juice Drink

Coca-Cola in India has launched a new beverage under the Minute Maid brand umbrella. The new Minute Maid Nimbu Fresh is a lemon juice-based drink that includes no added preservatives or colours. Nimbu Fresh is available in two different sizes - on-the-go 400 ml PET and one litre PET, priced at 15 rupees and 40 rupees (£0.20 and £ 0.54) respectively. The beverage is being launched in a phased manner and will be initially made available in the state of Tamil Nadu and will undergo a nationwide launch later in 2010. T Krishnakumar, chief executive officer at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, said: "Innovation has always been the hallmark of Coca-Cola's business strategy in India. The launch of Minute Maid Nimbu Fresh is the latest example." Coca-Cola Unveils ‘Facebook’ Flavour Vitaminwater

ATLANTA - Coca-Cola has unveiled a new flavour for its Glaceau Vitaminwater drink called Connect, after a promotion run on social network site Facebook. The drink, available in the US from March, carries Facebook branding and descriptive text, using references to untagging, friend requests and photo stalking. Connect is the result of a competition run on Vitaminwater's Facebook site, where consumers were invited to design their own flavours. The activity was promoted by a YouTube ad featuring NBA star Steve Nash, a brand ambassador for Vitaminwater in the US. The promotion launched in September, with Facebook users invited to vote for their favourite flavour in a "flavour creator lab". In the UK, Glaceau Vitaminwater was launched in May 2008 and the first national ad campaign followed in June last year. Several of its outdoor ads were later banned by the ASA because it deemed they were likely to mislead consumers. One ad used the headline "More muscles than brussels". [...more]

Malaysian - F&N Coca-Cola, the soft drinks division of Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) will unveil its new corporate identity on Thursday following Coca-Cola's decision to not renew a bottling and distribution agreement. In February 2009, Coca-Cola decided F&N Coca-Cola would no longer handle its bottling and distribution once the initial contract expired on 26 January 2010. However, given the long relationship the companies have, a seperate Transition Agreement was created to allow both to prepare for the seperation. This agreement ends on 30 September 2011. [...more]

Coca-Cola Amatil to remove soft drinks from Fijian primary schools

Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji is to remove all of its full-sugar carbonated beverages from Fijian primary schools in 2010. The move has been welcomed by the Consumer Council and was praised as a display of social responsibility, the Fiji Times reports. Speaking to the newspaper, the council's chief executive Premila Kumar said: "Such bold decisions are indications that many companies like Coca-Cola are beginning to realise that they must act in accordance with the norms of right and wrong." She went on to explain that Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji had also removed a "dangerous" TV advertisement which showed a child throwing fireworks into a house. [...more]

Coca-Cola Renews Sponsorship of Nigeria Football Federation

Coca-Cola has renewed its sponsorship of the Nigeria Football Federation. The soft drinks giant has signed a N555 million (£2.3 million) deal which makes the brand the official drink of all of the national teams for the next five years. This agreement will see Coca-Cola pay 200 per cent more per year than it did in its previous sponsorship package, which was just N48 million per annum. AllAfrica.com reported that Nigeria Football Federation's president Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi said: "We met little money from sponsors but today we have been able to attract more sponsors and the value of our football has also increased to over N1 billion and we expect more." The Nigerian Bottling Group (NBG) produces and distributes a number of Coca-Cola brands in Nigeria, including Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta. NBG began as a small family-owned company and now claims to be the main bottler of non-alcoholic beverages in Nigeria. [...more]
