Cutty Sark Whisky Joins Maxxium UK Portfolio

Maxxium UK, the sales and distribution alliance for The Edrington Group and Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc, today announces the addition of Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky into its portfolio. Cutty Sark, a premium blended Scotch, has been purchased by The Edrington Group and will now sit alongside the other Scotch whiskies in Maxxium's leading whisky portfolio including The Famous Grouse, Teacher's, The Macallan, Highland Park, Laphroaig and Ardmore. Edrington Buys Cutty Sark

Edrington is to buy the Cutty Sark blended scotch whisky brand and Berry Bros acquires the Glenrothes single malt whisky The Edrington Group which makes The Famous Grouse and The Macallan, is to buy the blended scotch whisky brand Cutty Sark from Berry Bros & Rudd (BB&R) while Berrys is to acquire The Glenrothes single malt brand. Edrington has been supplying blended whisky for the Cutty Sark brand for more than 70 years and is responsible for all aspects of production of Cutty Sark. Edrington is to acquire all Cutty Sark distribution contracts in force at the time of completion, by April. The Edrington sales-and-distribution alliance (Maxxium) will continue to distribute The Glenrothes in key international markets and is also expected to provide a distribution option for other brands within BB&R's super-premium spirits portfolio. Cutty Sark Distribution Goes Back To Berry Bros

Scotch whisky Cutty Sark has ended its UK distribution arrangement with Emporia Brands Ltd after two years. With immediate effect, UK distribution of Cutty Sark will be undertaken by Berry Bros. & Rudd. James Rackham, chairman of Emporia Brands said: "I am very proud of our work on Cutty Sark. Although the UK market for blended Scotch whisky has been declining for a number of years, we targeted the premium sector with Cutty Sark and achieved some excellent results, especially in the London area. I am delighted we are able to hand Cutty Sark back to Berry Bros. & Rudd with far more on- and off-trade listings than when we took the brand on." [...more]
