Pernod Ricard UK has appointed two new channel directors for spirits and wine/champagne.
Nick Yates has been named channel director, on-trade spirits, responsible for the company's on-trade commercial spirit strategies across route to market, managed retail, independent and 'prestige' outlets. Yates, formally business unit controller, has 11 years of commercial experience at Pernod Ricard UK and will report directly to the company's newly appointed commercial director for spirits, Simon van Moppes. Pernod Ricard-owned blended Scotch whisky brand is launching a bottle that flashes like a graphic equaliser in time to the music.
Designed by London-based packaging agency The Core, the Ballantine's Finest self-illuminating bottle, which can be powered by batteries or mains, is only available to the on-trade.
The bottle design is modelled on a graphic equaliser, the dark blue spray coated bottle appears to react to the tonal quality of audio passing through it, by lighting up intermittently to achieve back-of-bar standout. [...more]

Pernod Ricard premium spirits arm Chivas Brothers has signed up Ryder Cup golfer Graeme McDowell as its new global brand ambassador for Ballantine's whisky.
Northern Irishman McDowell - winner of the inaugural Ballantine's Championship in Korea in 2008 - will now wear the Ballantine's logo on his sleeve at all tournaments in which he plays.
Upping its stakes in the world of professional golf, Chivas Bros has also recently signed a sponsorship deal for Ballantine's with the Omega Mission Hill World Cup in China. Pernod Ricard, a well-known French producer of alcoholic drinks has opened its first branded retail store in the Armenian capital Yerevan, the company has told.
According to Pernod Ricard Armenia CEO Alexander Kazarian, the Armenian branch was founded just a year ago in order to represent famous Perno's brands in the local market.
